Why is it that non-metals do not displace hydrogen from dilute acids ?

Because  non-metals do not have a tendency to lose electrons ..Only those metals which are reactive than hydrogen will displace H2 from dilute acids.

because the concentration of H+ ion is more in dilute acid the weak bases are not able remove it
