Generally a fire extinguisher does not have just nitrogen. If you have a gas extinguisher it is probably CO2. Nitrogen is one of the gases, along with helium, halon and other gases, that is used to pressurize the extinguisher. Water extinguishers are normally charged with regular air.

Answer:
Mainly, CO2 is denser than N2. With excess CO2 in an atmosphere, your body is aware of a lack of oxygen. This response is not triggered by nitrogen. It is possible to asphyxiate in a nitrogen atmosphere without having the feeling that there isn't enough air.
