Why is it that while using a moving coil galvanometer as a
voltmeter a high resistance in series required whereas in
ammeter a shunt is used?​

Explanation:

Shunt is a low resistance connected in parallel with an ammeter to increase range of ammeter.It takes across it the maximum current, thereby helping in increase of range of instruments. For extending range of voltmeter, we connect a high resistance in series with voltmeter
