The moon is simply too small and too close to the sun to hold an atmosphere. Our moon does indeed have an atmosphere consisting of some unusual gases, including sodium and potassium.So this is the reason why there no atmosphere in moon.

so the moon is simply too small and too close to the sun to hold an atmosphere . our moon does in deed have an atmosphere consisting of ususal gases,including sodium and potassium which are not found in the atmosphere of mars ,earth or venus .there are several sources for gases in the moon's atmosphere.
