Why is it written as "objects in the mirror are closer than they appear", on the side glasses of motorbikes or scooter or cars?

In these side glasses, convex mirror is used. The images formed of the objects are smaller than the objects (a convex mirror always forms diminished image). We humans assume smaller objects to be far away from us, but actually they are not far. That's why this line is written on the glass.
