why is jewellery not made of 24 carat gold?explain?

Hence 24 karat pure has to be mixed with other metals to make it hard enough to be used as jewellry piece. Gold is an extremely malleable metal. ... Therefore in order to make jewellery retain it's shape and all the detail it is imperative that a jeweller mix it with other metals called alloys to give it more strength.

24 carat gold or pure gold is very soft and hence cannot be used for making jewellery so some amount of other metal ( usually copper and silver) is added in order to make gold a bit harder and give it a shape.
fir ex gold jewelleries of 22carat gold consists of 22parts of gold and 2 parts of other metal.
