Why is judiciary known as the gaurdian of fundamental rights

Our judicial system which is completely independent from the executive and the legislature. ... this mechanism provided the power to the judiciary to keep a check on the other two organs of the state and that is the reason why judiciary is called the guardian of the constitution.
