Answer:

This is because of the land's nearness to the sea and the presence of the fort like Western Ghats on the east.

Answer:

It can be completely attributed to the direction of winds

Explanation:

In India, during Summers - the sun is over the Tropic of Cancer - which heats up the North western part of India - forming a low pressure zone. Since, mainland areas face extreme variations in their temperature due to absence of moderating influence of the sea - this low pressure zone attracts winds from the south of the equator. Now, the winds there flow in South East direction, but changes direction (or in a easy way - deflects) due to the Northern deflection through the application of Coriolis force (Caused by earth's rotation). These south west winds carry a great amount of moisture with them and enters India through Kerala by first week of June - this is always fixed unless until there is a disturbance which rarely happens.

For retreating monsoon, the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which had shifted towards the north due to heat zone starts shifting southwards. Along with the application of the dry cold winds coming from Himalayas, these winds are encountered with Easterly jet streams which begins their offset from India in a slow and gradual manner. It first starts retreating from the NW India and ending into Bay of Bengal and slowly slowly leaves India with Kerala and Tamil Nadu being the last beneficiaries of it.

I hope it finds you useful :)
