Particles of liquids have more interparticular space between them whereas the particles in solids have no interparticular space in between them.Because of the interparticular space in liquids the particles can move.Kinetic energy is the energy of an object due to its motion. Therefore as the particles can move in liquids while the particles in solids cannot move, that is why the kinetic energy is more in liquids than in solids.
