why is knee voltage different for different colour LeD​

Voltage is a measure of energy. So, to get the electron to hike up to the higher state, we apply voltage. Higher voltage = more energy. RED (lower energy photons) LEDs need less voltage than yellow than green than BLUE (higher energy photon) LEDs.

The forward voltage rating has to be met in order to light the LED, and that rating varies according to the LED color. The reason for this is that to produce different colors
