the answer is already there in brainy but still
To prevent rusting of iron zinc is coated over iron and Zinc reacts with surrounding and the iron remains protected this process to control rusting of iron is called galvanisation.

hiii!!!
here's ur answer...
first of all, as we know that more reactive metal can be coated (galvanized) over less reactive metal and zinc is more reactive than iron. so it'll coated.
layer of zinc is coated on iron to prevent it from rusting. as we know iron reacts with oxygen (air) and reacts. to prevent the iron from corroding and to protect the iron from rusting as the outer layer of zinc is corroded or rusted and inner iron or steel is protected. this process is called galvanisation. when zinc is coated over iron, it reacts as sacrificial metal.
hope this helps..!!
