Why is lok sabha called lower house when it exercises more power than the rajya sabha?

Because members of lok sabha are elected directly by people and in constitution it is written that lok sabha must be known as lower house..

And no confidence motion is also passed only there. It has some special powers that cannot be enjoyed by the Rajya Sabha. And that makes the Lok Sabha more powerful. And it's known as the lower house, but it is no way lower when compared to Rajya Sabha actually.
