Your lymphatic system runs throughout your body and is parallel to your venous system. The lymph vessels generally parallel your body's arteries and veins. The lymph vessels collect and return excess fluid from all over the body, filter and concentrate it, and then return it back into the blood circulation.

Lymphatic system is called as a parallel systemto venous system because they both transport body fluids. Lymph vessels are parellel to circulatory vessels in their paths through the body. Lymph vessels are the part of an open ended system that collects lymph fluid from tissues and transfer it into venous system.
