Why is magnification of a convex lens taken as negative

we should take it as a negative because .. its just forms in left and side .. so we should take.

basicaly we should apply graph model . were we use the point were beyond o its negative . its just opposite to after

it is bcoz convex lens forms real images.These images are inverted .Therefore h' is negative.h is always negative.Therefore when m=-h'/h,m is negative.
