Why  is  Mars  called  the  Red  Planet  ?

its called so because of its reddish appearance ..it looks so basically due to the rusted martian rocks.

Because it appears in bright red colour due to the presence of "Iron" in it. When it becomes oxidised by the help of vapour or CO2 that abundant there, the surface at that place changes to orange-reddish colour.
