Why is medulla oblongata known as brain stem

Because it controlls the brain and the body . It is the central oart of brain . It helps in storing informations and to do activies . It causes death , body paralised and memory loss when it is harmed .

It controls all involuntary actions necessary for life. Thus it is said to be the brain stem
