why is melamine is used for making kitchen ware

melamine is hard plastic. it's molecules have cross link polymers ,which helps it to be rigid even when heated

It is used for outer covering of utensils so that it becomes fire resistant and doesnt get damaged. Melamine doesn't catch fire and doesnt melt dwon heating.
