You added enough energy to create a phase change from solid to liquid .physical actions , such as changing temperature ,on pressure , can cause physical changes . No chemical changes took place when u melted the ice . The water molecules are still water molecules.....thnx...hope u appreciate the ans. ......keep questioning....have a nice day dear...@sachi1315....#sachi...

Melting of ice is a physical change because when the ice change into water it can be change again into ice by freezing of water.

But in chemical change the properties of a substance cannot be reverse again after chemical change like burning of paper, when the paper is burnt we can not reverse it back to its original shape.

So the melting of ice is a physical change.
