Why is mercury considered a metal

because it is having the properties of metals as it has high melting and boiling point it has high density etc

That is because mercury has all the properties of a metal except being in liquid state under normal conditions of temperature and pressure. As an example think of it this way, heat any other metal to some temperature and they will turn into liquids, buy that doesn't mean they cease to be metals !
There are other properties that qualify an element to be called a metal apart from the physical state they exist in  normal temperature. Also the test for conducting electricity quickly determines that mercury is a metal.
