why is Mercury filled in thermometer why doesn't we use any other liquid​

Mercury is filled in thermometer because it has a very high melting point and very low freezing point. Which means, it will not freeze when kept in low temperatures, or not evaporate in high temperatures. Other liquids freeze or evaporate, so they are not used. Hope it helped!!
