liquid in the glass thermometer and the cheapest kind of thermometer and they are also easy to use mercury is easily the best liquid to use for five important reason it is very reflected so it is easy to see and read actually it does not matter class so you don't get in create reading if temperature is failing

1) Water evaporates if there’s a heat. The water vapor will cover the glass surface of the thermometer and the temperature scale would be difficult to read. Mercury doesn’t soak the glass surface.
2) Mercury absorbs the heat. So, the temperature of the mercury will be same with the temperature of the measured object.
3) Mercury has high boiling point (629.88 K, 356.73 °C, 674.11 °F) and low melting point
(234.3210 K, −38.8290 °C, −37.8922 °F).
4) The expansion of mercury is stable or linear to the changes of the heat, except for a really high temperature.
