Why is mercury used in thermometers?​

This is because it's the only non-metal which is in liquid state at room temperature(20°C)

Mercury is a liquid substance used in thermometer. Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature. It's used in thermometers because it has high coefficient of expansion.
