⚡the metallic high-reflectivity due to free electrons, when free electrons don't interact with photons because in the modern periodic table,the metallic character in groups increases while in periods,it decreases.the protons in an atom remains same in number.Also,the electrons looses or gains.⚡

The photoelectric effect occurswhen an atom (or ion) absorbs the energy of a photon and an electron is emitted. ... The same thing cannot happen when light interacts with a free electron (e.g. see Free electron can't absorb a photon ).
