Why is methanoic acid more acidic than ethanoic acid 2?

formula of methanoic acid is HCOOH and ethanoic acid is CH3COOH..and we know that acidity is inversly proportional to number of electron donating groups...since in methanoic acid there is no E.D groups it is more acidic ...and in ethanoic acid CH3 is donating group so it is less acidic but more basic than methanic acid
