Methyl orange is the one of the kind indicator

indicator changes the colour in its specific pH range .

methyl orange is also pH indicator it shows the red colour in the acidic medium and yellow colour in the basic medium. because it changes their colour according to their pH range.

its specific pH range is less than 3.1 methyl orange is red and the pH range is less than 4.4 it will be yellow . most of the methyl orange is used for acidic titration.

methyl orange is internal indicators .

Types of indicators :--

1) Internal indicator

These indicators are added to the solutions which are taking part in the reaction for example methyl orange , phenolphthalein .

2) External indicator:--

These indicators are not added to the solutions . one drop of such indicator is mixed with titrating mixture for example potassium ferricyanide .

3) self - indicator :--

some colour solutions itself act as an indicator and during the chemical reaction it changes their colour There solutions are known as self - indicator for example potassium permanganate .
