Why is modern poetry devoid of literature and are just emotion oriented ?

Writing good poetry requires much practice and effort, just like playing a musical instrument.
Good poets are not idiots. They have learned to write language that reverberates, and to focus on compelling themes, images and ideas.
Reading poetry requires effort, but the reward is worth it.
Good poems stay with your for your lifetime, and you can return to them at any time in your mind.
I have about half a dozen poems that I’ve memorized. I think about them when I want a bit of inspiration.
I would like to share this poem by Clive James with you. It’s not one of my favorites, but I think it will be new for most people, and James is certainly a wizard with words:
