The moss is not usually found growing in areas of little rainfall because of the following two reasons:

  • Firstly they have no specialized tissue like xylem and phloem for conduction of water and other substance from one part to another.  
  • Secondly as they belong to bryophyte which is called as amphibian of plant kingdom, they need water for completion of their life cycle. They live on soil and for reproduction they are dependent on water.
