Why is mother's day celebrated? What's the story behind this?

Mothers day is celebrated in honour of our beloved mother.It is an annual celebration to express our gratitude and respect to our mother who works so hard for us to make us a respectable human beings.This day is totally behind the expressing feelings to our mother.It is generally celebrated in the month of may in India.But it varies with the different countries.On this special day the children write letters to their mother saying a word of thanks and give precious gifts to their beloved mother.
