Mustard is called as dicot plant because it possess all the below said characteristics.

For a plant to be called as dicot, it must satisfy the following characteristics,

  • It must possess two cotyledons in its seed  as the name suggest to be dicot.
  • It must have taproot system.
  • It must possess flower with 4 or 5 petals.
  • Its leaves must have branched veins.
  • In it the vascular bundles are arranged in a ring like manner.
