Why is nacl is harder than sodium metal

sodium metal is harder than solid metal because NaCl is a ionic compound formed by the strong electrostatic forces of attraction between cations and anions and so it has ionic bond , thus it is in the form of crystal solid.

whereas Na is a metal with metallic bonding

and generally metallic bond is weaker than ionic bonding
