why is natural gas compressed to form CNG

Since natural gas is a gas.it can be lost... But CNG is a liquid. And can be stored!!

Compressed natural gas (CNG) (methane stored at high pressure) is a fuel which can be used in place ofgasoline (petrol), Diesel fuel andpropane/LPG. CNG combustion produces fewer undesirable gases
