why is newer alluvial soil fertile ?

Hey,

Alluvial soil is formed by very fine fractions like clay and silt carried down the slope in the riverbed and the turbidity settles down as deposit in lower plains.

Backwaters of sea also help in coagulation/precipitation.

Anyway the clay and silt contain secondary clay minerals which carry nutrients in exchangeable form not easily dissolved nor washed.

Only plant roots can extrat those nutrients from the exchange complex by their extracts.
