why is nitrobenzene a suitable solvent for friedel craft alkylation of phenyl Bromide while benzene is not​

Nitrobenzene does not undergo the friedel crafts reaction as it is a powerful deactivating substituent so we can use this as a solvent

By the way ortho-para directors are strong activators but nitro group is a strong deactivator
