Answer:

Nitrogenous fertilizer is not added in soil in which leguminous plants are grown because

  • The nitrogen fixing bacteria called rhizobium reside in the root nodules of the leguminous plants and attach to it.
  • These nodules fix atmospheric nitrogen and convert it into soluble nitrogenous compounds called ammonia that can be used by the plant for its growth and development
  • Hence the soil in which legumes are grown becomes rich in nitrogen and does not require nitrogenous fertilizers.
  • Examples of some legumes are Peas and Lentil

hope it helps..

Answer:

nitrogenous fertilizer is not added in soil in which leguminous plants grow because in leguminous plants roots nodules there are rhizobium bacteria which helps in nitrogen fixation so there is no need to add fertilizer as nitrogen is already present enough by rhizobium bacteria
