Why is no current induced when the coil is vertical?

In this picture, the movement of the coil inside an AC generator is shown. My question is when the angle is zero or like in the beginning, the coil is vertical to the magnetic field yet no emf is generated. Why is this so? Isn't the coil perpendicular here to the magnetic field and should therefore induce a current? How can the coil when horizontal and parallel to the magnetic field induce an emf then? Thanks alot!

When we connect the coil to a battery, current
starts flowing, hence there is change in the
magnetic field.
(ii) This change in magnetic field induces a current
in coil 2.
(iii) The process by which changing magnetic field
induces a current in another conductor, is called
