Why is no work done by gravity when an object moves horizontally

Work has two components based on the physical situation.. But position vector is always one of the parameters which gets integrated.. Gravitation acts only in vertical direction.. So a horizontal motion doesn't rely on g but on friction, drag or some factor.. Thus integral of work only includes horizontal vector components.. And work done by gravity becomes zero as the product of vector becomes zero
