Hey there !
In South Indian coastline, the climate is humid. During summer season North India is hotter than south India as most of the North Indian region is away from the sea. So during retreating monsoon, incidents of cyclones are more in South India.
Hope it helps you !

You cannot make a sweeping comment on the climates of both the regions. In north itself there are vast changes in climate from Kashmir to Rajasthan. In Delhi it is extremely hot in summer and extremely cold in winter,. Climate depends upon so many factors like proximity to equator, altitude, closeness to desert or a forest. hills around etc. There are very cool places in south, like Ooty, or Nilagiri hills, Araku valley etc and very hot places as well.
Overall you can say south is slightly hotter because of its proximity to equator, and also the coastal areas are humid.
