Mitochondria is known as the powerhouse for the cell. They are responsible for cellular respiration as in the energy is released in the form of ATP, i.e., Adenosine triphosphate. While the cells release 2 ATP, mitochondria release 34 ATP which adds up to 36 ATP. Since mitochondria release a significant portion of the ATP, they are called the powerhouse of the cell. Through the process of cellular respiration, (commonly known as aerobic (with oxygen) respiration but it also includes glycolysis- a way of making energy without the presence of Oxygen) Mitochondria produce a molecule called ATP or Adenosine TriPhosphate. The mitochondria are referred to as a "powerhouse" because it's the only cell organelle that can make energy in a form the cell can use to run various cell activities (1 example is active Transport, the movement of substances across a membrane against its concentration gradient) So this is why Mitochondria is called the powerhouse of
Because it creates ATP (adenosyne three phosphate), a compound that gives energy for all processes in cells. This weird molecule has a lot of energy stored inside its phosphorus groups, but once the hird oe gets detached it becomes useless to the cell. That's when mitochondria get important. They have the ability to regenerate ATP (meaning to create more of it) by burning (oxidizing) sugars (glucose). They do that via citric acid's cycle. This cycle breaks down citric acid with coenzyme A in and that way provides enough energy to create new ATP. After every cycle, there are 36 more molecules of ATP ready to use. The number of mitochondria depends on a cell type. For example, cells that do a lot of “hard work” such as neurons or liver cells and especially muscles have huge numbers of mitochondria that produce energy for them. Other cells that don't have a lot of “work” to do have less of these orgenelles. What's more interesting though is that mitochondria doesn't use any of the cell'…
Why mitochondria are called as the powerhouse of the cell?
Answer ·
Answer :- <> mitochondria are power house becaus they have senthesize ATP.<> Mitochondria stores energy in form of the ATP ( Edenosin try phosphate).<> Mitochondria produced energy for the cell and this process is known as cellular respiration. <> Energy are required for Vital activities. and energy are provided by mitchondria in the form of ATP. <> These are reason mitchondria are known as the power house of the cell. ====================I hope it's help you....!!! :) ✌️✌️
