O- horizon found on forest but not in grasslands:

  • O horizon is found in forest only because for its formation it needs a large number of plants and animals which are available in the forest only, and so there will be more numerous 'humus formed on horizon'.
  • Whereas Grasslands does not have plants and trees so, there is no requirement of o horizon there.
  • O-horizon is the lowest layer of soil profile.
  • Soil Profile explains the various layers of the soil which are A, B, C, and O.
