why is only 1 side of the moon visible to us


hada: The moon takes about 28 days and 7 hours to complete a rotation. It also takes about the same time to complete one revolution. So we get to see only one side of the moon.

it's true that the moon rotates and revolves at the same rate and therefore shows the same face to the earth (for the most part). and it's not a coincidence either... the moon over time had its orbit changed so that its heaviest side faces the earth.
