because back then when the constitution was written some special sections or we can say that the marginalized sections such as that of the dalits and harijans were neglected from the society and were considered as untouchables. they were kept isolated from all the wordly pleasure such as they cannot study, they are only meant to clean homes etc. so then some special rights, one of the main is reservation was given to them in order to promote equality among the population.
