- States and Union territories are established inside a nation largely for administrative purposes. The provinces and princely states of the British Empire were eliminated by the States Reorganization Act of 1956. In its place, new states were created using racial and linguistic criteria.

- The main reason our nation is split up into States and Union territories is for administrative reasons. The provinces and princely states of the British Empire were eliminated by the States Reorganization Act of 1956. New states were created in its place, depending on ethnicity and language.
