Why is oxygen colourless even though it's paramagnetic?

Compounds having unpaired electrons have a tendency of electron excitation which usually requires absorbance of a photon of some frequency. If this frequency falls under visible spectrum, you can see a complementary colour of the compound. In oxygen, this Photon absorbance frequency do not lie in the visible spectrum and hence you don't see any colour
