Why is Pakistan undemocratic despite conducting elections?

It's a democracy . It has political parties . Electorate has a choice of candidtaes to choose from . Elections are faiy free and fair .it has a parliament . The results throw up different results .

So where's the problem . The problem lies in the over all authority of the country . The ruling party has to get all major decesions approved from the army chief . Otherwise the PM will be unable to implement the decesion .

The overarching role and influence reduces the entire democratic process to a farce .

For example however much PM nawaz shariff may want to improve relations with India he cannot do so without the approval of the army . And the army does not approve .

In 1999 Pakistan army started the conflict in kargill without informing the PM and the govt .

That's why Pakistan is not treated as a true democracy although it has all the features of democratic.
