Pancreas is called a 'dual gland' because is a Heterocrine gland i.e. Endocrine as well as Exocrine gland.
Its Endocrine part produces pancreatic juice while its Exocrine part consists of about a million cells clustered together called Islets of Langerhans which further consists of
Alpha Cells and Beta Cells.
