Why is pancreas called a'dual function'gland? Write the names of its hormones.

pancreas is a composite gland as well as an organ...
it secretes digestive enzymes like tripsin ( protein synthesis) .At the same time it secretes the hormone called insulin which controls blood sugar level..

pancreas is called as dual function gland because it is a composite gland and acts as both exocrine and endocrine gland.
the endocrine pancreas consist of Eislets of Langerhanc.there are two main type of cells in the islets of langerhanc are called Alfa cell and Bita cells .
The Alfa cells secrete a hormone called glucagon,while the bita cells secrete Insulin .
