It is important criteria because national income is not including in compare different states or countries. Every state have different no. of population. that's why it is an important criteria

Per capita income is an important criterion because it gives some idea about the rising standards of living. Prosperity of a country not only depends on the size of its national income but also on the number of people who would share it. A rise in let capita income indicates that more goods and services are available on average to people. Also, averages helps in obtaining per individual income within a specified time frame.
