Reason why periderm formation not seen in annual plants:
The outer protective secondary covering which is formed by replacing of epidermis in stem and root is called as Periderm. In common word, the extra layers formed in the regions of stem or root may be considered as Periderm and its main function is to protect the plant till it becomes as tree and dies naturally.
Annual plants are type of plant species that are seasonal. They grow and die in the same season. Due to this reason Periderm formation is not seen in annual plants.
