Petroleum is known as black gold because it has multiple uses and also many useful compounds are obtained from it eg:petrol, gasoline, paraffin wax and many more

bcoz it's a fossil fuel which is obtained by the buried plants and animals since million of years. it's very costly nd as we all know that it has finished almost from everywhere. that is y it's known as black gold..................and in black is referred bcoz petroleum is black in colour
