Why is pi bond more reactive than sigma bond?

unsaturated compounds due to existence of double bond are more reactive than saturated compounds because the electron density at the intranuclear axis is zero in a Pi bond in contrast to sigma bond and Pi bonds involve sideways overlap while sigma bond in walls head on or overlap
